I have wanted to paint our bedroom furniture for a very long time. I finally gathered up enough nerve to just go for it. It was 90’s cherry laminate and that needed to go!
Here is the before pictures. Please forgive the paint on the headboard. As usual, I forgot to take pictures before I started testing colors. “Hi! My name is Krissy and I have a paint before pictures problem.”
Here are the after photos.
I love, love, love it! Here are the cast of characters that I used.
I painted the pieces with two coats of the Country Chic chalk paint, in Liquorice, using the round brush, distressed them just a little bit with some sandpaper, and used the furniture wax as the top coat. I always wax my base coats. That way, whatever I decide to do to the finish, the base coat won’t wipe off. I wanted more of a brown black, so I rubbed some of the antique wax on top. I then used a dry-brush technique, using the brushed bronze and my smaller brush, to add a few highlights. I always keep a water bottle handy in case I make a mistake (which ALWAYS happens.) I just spray the mistake with water and wipe it off. Yay! That’s why waxing my base coat is so important to me. Here is my Facebook Live where I demonstrated painting one of the nightstands and, hopefully, some of the tips I suggest you find useful. It really was easy to do and I am so thrilled with the outcome! I still have an armoire to paint before this set is complete, so, happy painting, y’all!
