Have you heard of Galentine’s Day? It’s where us gals get together, on February 13th, to celebrate each other. If you are a Parks and Rec fan like me, you know that this day originated on that show and has gained popularity over the years. For our celebration, I thought I would make a simple gift from items I purchased at the Dollar Tree to add to the festivities.
Here are the items that I will be using:
A glass jar with a mouth wide enough to put your little gifts in.
I chose a Valentine candle, lip oil, and chocolate hearts to fill my glass jar.
I found this cute heart ribbon at Dollar Tree, too!
A few things that I had on hand to use are raffia, twine, and a small wooden heart.
I placed a small amount of raffia in the bottom of my jar. You could also use the colorful shredded paper.
Next I placed the candle down inside the jar.
I added in the lip oil next. I ended up taking the outside packaging off the lip oil so it would fit better in the jar.
I added in the chocolates (which filled up the jar nicely.)
I used a little bit of hot glue to secure the cute heart ribbon around the side of the lid.
I used a fine point Sharpie to write the name of the recipient on the heart. I drilled a small hole on one side of the heart so I could thread the twine through. I used that twine to tie on the name heart to the jar.
And here is how it looks! Cute, right?
This would also make a cute gift for teachers or coworkers. Do you celebrate Galentine’s Day? Let me know if you try this.
Happy crafting,
Krissy
