Hey guys! Do I have a super easy DIY for you today! This DIY will take your Easter table setting (or whatever occasion) to the next level. What am I talking about? Cloth napkins! I don’t know about you, but when I am at a table with a cloth napkin, it always feels fancy. You can customize your napkins to match your decor or theme without spending a lot of time or a ton of money. Our theme is red and black buffalo check and it’s for a baby shower. So let’s get started!
Here are the supplies you will need for your no-sew cloth napkins:
I started out measuring my fabric. We are using our napkins in bowls and on platters for food to sit on so we want the final size to be 12″ x 12″. In order for that to work, we must actually cut our fabric 13″ x 13″. We will have a 1/2″ all the way around for our hem.
Now we are ready to start working on our hem. Make sure your iron is hot and follow the recommended setting as stated on the “Heat and Bond’ package (shown here.)
I rolled out a strip of the “Heat and Bond” the length of one of my sides and folded the fabric over it just until it was covered. I then used my iron to press the hem. I repeated this step for all four sides.
Here is what the back side looks like. For our purposes, I left the fray on the fabric. I thought it added a rustic touch to our napkins.
Here is what the napkin looks like when you are all finished.
This project was so easy and fast! Remember, you can customize these to whatever you want and your guests will think you slaved all day or spent a lot of money making your table look great.
Happy crafting!
